Numbers would grow quickly as Sherford expanded to 5,500 homes by 2019. Devon County Council held a meeting at Yealmpton Community Centre last night to give people the first chance to consider the proposals. The county may establish a regular maintained school, but interested parties will also be invited to 'bid' to establish a particular type of school such as a foundation school, a voluntary-aided or -controlled school or an academy. Ivybridge Community College has already revealed that it is considering federating with the new school. A public examination of the Sherford proposals is expected to be held in the New Year. Further details of the consultation can be obtained online at www.devon.gov.uk/ index/learning/education_ consultations_notices.htm
